this week’s Thought (singular)
i’m just a girl. standing in front of the locked front door of my home. desperately searching for the house keys in my purse that seems to contain everything else.

glom (verb, n. american informal) - steal
‘I didn’t tell anybody about where i had hidden the ice cream at home, fearing that somebody would glom it. however, i forgot that i had bought the tub at all. it expired.
coruscation (noun) - a sudden or striking display of brilliance, wit, etc.
‘The impact of this newsletter on your psyche cannot be overstated - the recurring instances of coruscation, self-aware and vulnerable tone, and incredible humility of the narrator add value to your life in a way few other niche, online, hyper-personal, free newsletters can.
etiolated (adjective) - having lost vigour or substance
‘The break seemed to have done her good - her manner was no longer so etiolated, having regained some of her vivacity during the time-off.’
beribonned (adjective) - decorated with many ribbons
‘The baby was peacefully sleeping on the bed, having refused to settle down in the ugliness of the excessively beribonned crib. The pet cat, however, had no issues with sleeping in the ribbon.’
as always, i hope you remember these when you need to, or at the very least, after you need to. as long you remember them at some point.

Once upon a Time: Surfside, Miami, Richard Blanco
Once and once again I am as I remember myself. Thirty years later, I can still savor the sway of these palms fanning this same wind into syllables whispering good morning in my eyes, saving these todays when I can no longer hear how to live out this passion for breaking myself into poems like this, like these waves that once upon a time are again my loyal loves still kissing my feet as I stroll this shore and glance back at my footprints again washed away. The salty salve of these breezes I breathe, living once again with all my joyous regrets for all I’ve done right or wrong, for all I am now, that is enough, yet not enough, for who I wanted to be once, still searching this sea, still facing this same silent horizon, I ask again: Who am I? What should I do? The answer, as always: Everything.
A Note (Notatka), Wisława Szymborska (translated from the Polish by Stanisław Barańczak and Clare Cavanagh)
Life is the only way to get covered in leaves, catch your breath on the sand, rise on wings; to be a dog, or stroke its warm fur; to tell pain from everything it’s not; to squeeze inside events, dawdle in views, to seek the least of all possible mistakes. An extraordinary chance to remember for a moment a conversation held with the lamp switched off; and if only once to stumble upon a stone, end up soaked in one downpour or another, mislay your keys in the grass; and to follow a spark on the wind with your eyes; and to keep on not knowing something important.
Leaves and Blossoms Along the Way, Mary Oliver (full poem here)
All important ideas must include the trees, the mountains, and the rivers. To understand many things you must reach out of your own condition. For how many years did I wander slowly through the forest. What wonder and glory I would have missed had I ever been in a hurry! Beauty can both shout and whisper, and still it explains nothing. The point is, you’re you, and that’s for keeps.
